About 300 paintings, sculpture and graphic works are presented at the exhibition from the collection of the Russian museum and private collections. The exposition is arranged in a geographical principle: every hall is dedicated to one or two countries. The Russian painters depicted the episodes of their every day life, sketched the morals and manners, landscapes during the trips.

The genre of the art trips received a large development in the creative oeuvre of the Russian artists at the end of the XVIII century, when the Academy of Arts started to send its pupils on creative academic missions. At the exposition there are presented the works by such Russian artists of the XVIII – XXI centuries as: Simeon Chedrin, Fedor Matveev, Ivan Ayvasovsky, Karl and Alexander Brullovs, Orest Kiprensky, Silvestr Chedrin, Alexander Ivanov, Piotr Basin, Maxim Vorobyev, brothers Chernetsov, Natan Altman , Alexandr Dejneka, Piotr Konachalovsky, Konstantin Korovin, Alexandra Ostroumova-Lebedeva, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin and others.
