The Russian Museum

Guiding programs for exhibitions are worked out for all the main Russian Museum exhibitions and are installed in computer right in an exhibition hall. For visitors' comfort and with the purpose of more complete information service we plan to create special "information zones" in the Russian Museum palaces that will be provided with computer equipment and it will allow not only to receive easily information and "view" computer excursions on temporary exhibitions and the permanent exposition but also to print any information. With an information stand of this kind any visitor will have possibility to get acquianted with CDs worked out in the museum and any scholar could make an excursion in the "virtual Russian Museum".

Kernel of information content of these stands will be the followng programs: "And the palace turned in museum", "The Michael's Castle history", "Marble Palace. Owners and masters", "The Stroganov Palace. 250 years of its history", as well as funds', new acquisitions and gifts' presentation.

Technical realization of information stands will be based on using the computer monitor with touchscreen. Thanks to this tecnology there is no need to use computer keyboard and mouse. Thus every kind of visitor can use information stands despite of his age and education level.

These works need modernization and setting of supplimentary computer equipment, expenditures on multilanguage versions of available programs working out as well as information content extending.

We plan to create about 10-12 information zones in all the Russian Museum palaces. Expenses could be partially compensated by distributing information content created in the museum on CDs.
