Internal courtyards - winter gardens of the Mikhailovsky Palace

Goal: to create in the Mikhailovsky Palace that is saturated with exposition to the utmost recreation zones for visitors including partial use of new grounds for the museum production needs. When two internal courtyards of the Mikhailovsky Palace and four internal yards of the Benois Wing are covered with lights the main complex area will be increased to 1200 - 1500 sq. m.

Space in the Mikhailovsky Palace that will be covered with lights will be used for cafe with two tiers with the total area 150 - 180 sq. m., restoration workshops with the total area 130 sq. m. and storage facilities that will be located in the ground and first floors with the total area 260 sq. m.; rooms in the Benois Wing will be meant for recreation and information zones for visitors with the total area 500 sq. m. as well as for enlarging areas of the funds of folk art and painting of the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries with the total area 1500 sq. m.
