Scenery conception of Western Guardhouse exposition

Exposition in Western Guardhouse is created as a multi-function center for museum multi-media technologies - Museum Tower of Multi-Media Wonders, where the viewer acquaints with modern achievements, future opportunities and "museum backstage".

The unique architecture of the Guardhouse enables to build a many-tier exposition. The exposition of each tier demonstrates different multi-media technologies and possesses a certain subject as well:

BASEMENT - INFORMATION ENTRANCE TO THE EXPOSITION:

  • Reference services, information stands
  • Multi-media, video and publications shop
  • Cloakroom

1st floor - Multi-media and Petersburg

  • Multi-media cinema and Telecommunication Center (demonstration of programmes on the following subjects: Petersburg, the Russian Museum, the Epoch of Paul I - St Michael's (Engineers) Castle - Guardhouse, Art Museums in Russia; Teleconferences; Lecture Hall)
  • Fair of multi-media produce and computer technologies
  • Mediateque (computer class)
  • Imperial Petersburg hall of 3D reconstructions
  • Museum Petersburg virtual tour

2nd floor - The Russian Museum

— public activities - external affairs:

  • The Russian Museum activities outside St Petersburg (Leningrad Region, Russia)
  • Virtual branches (provide material about their activities)

— Museum work - internal affairs

  • City of Masters. Entrance to different departments of the Russian Museum (Museum as a city of masters, as a production system, as a total of workshops)
  • Computer technologies in museum activities
  • Computer animation of works of fine arts

3rd floor - Guardhouse of St Michael's (Engineers) Castle

  • Story about the building and its historic intended use (historic reconstruction)
  • Ensemble of the Engineers Castle
  • Theme of Guards and Museum Guards (as an elite corps of Museum workers)
